How do you remove calcium deposits from urinals? ›

You can make an all-natural urinal descaler by mixing vinegar, lemon, and a small amount of water together into a solution. Either let a rag soak in this mixture overnight until it is saturated and then use it to scrub the urinal, or pour vinegar into the affected urinal and let it sit for a few hours.

Stainless steel urinals should be cleaned with a mild soap or detergent solution and water. A regular wipe down with a sponge or cloth with the mild soap / detergent solution will prevent the build up of dirt and deposits and keep the urinal in good condition. Rinse with clean water afterwards.

Apply toilet cleaner or bleach around the urinal and leave it to work if necessary. Starting at the highest point, use a cloth to clean around the urinal (the tiles behind it and the pipes) Next, use a toilet brush to thoroughly clean the urinal. Mop the floor and surrounding area.

A descaler cannot only kill the bacteria that cause odors, but it can help impede the formation of calcium build up and spotting. A descaler will dissolve uric acid.

Vinegar is an excellent urine stain remover; it breaks down the uric acid in urine and makes the stain easier to remove. When the cycle is complete, run the load again (this time adding detergent) and wash at the hottest water temperature recommended for the fabric.

Baking soda makes a great stainless steel sink cleaner because it is abrasive enough to scrub away light hard water deposits and stuck-on grease and food, but not so abrasive as to scratch shiny stainless steel fixtures like faucets. Try cleaning your sink with a paste of baking soda and water.

Because stainless steel can scratch easily, avoid using a brush attachment or any stiff cleaning tools. Try vinegar: For stubborn grease spots or water scaling, wet a soft cloth with a diluted solution of 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar.

Urinals require a similar cleaning method as toilet bowls, though in most cases, cleaners do not need to drain any water. Again, they should use a bowl cleaner only in the cavity of the urinal, not on the outside.

The uric acid urine test measures the level of uric acid in urine. Uric acid level can also be checked using a blood test. Uric acid urine test is performed to check for the amount of uric acid in urine. Urine is collected over a 24 hour period and is sent to the laboratory for testing.

Hydrogen peroxide did not oxidize uric acid at detectable rates, although it rapidly oxidized oxonic acid and slowly oxidized allantoin and parabanic acids.

Another excellent pet urine remover comes from that well-known, ugly brown bottle. Hydrogen peroxide does a great job at removing dog pee. Just put some peroxide into a spray bottle, soak the stain in a few sprays, and let it sit for about 10 or 15 minutes. To finish the job, clean it up with a rag.

Blockages in urinals are caused by the build up of scale in the urinal traps, drains or waste pipe work. This is produced by the deposition of dissolved salts that are present either alone in the water supply such as limescale or in combination with uric scale and salts.

If you aren't having any luck, get a drain auger to snake the drain line and clear any blockages. If you need a heavy duty option, you can always use muriatic acid mixed with water to dissolve any blockages. If you still can't drain the urinal, it may be time to call a professional plumber.

Does WD 40 remove calcium deposits? ›

Spray WD-40 on tough limescale stains and mineral deposits in your toilet and let it sit for a few minutes. Scrub with a toilet brush and the stains will dissolve easily. If you have any household or gardening tools then WD-40 is a definite MUST!
