In 2017, four former members of Ghost - Simon Soderberg, Mauro Rubino, Henrik Palm, and Martin Hjertstedt - filed a lawsuit against Tobias Forge. The accusation was that Forge was "cheating them out of their rightful share of the profits from the group's album releases and world tours."[1]
In doing so, the former band members effectively lifted the veil of secrecy that had previously surrounded Ghost, as Forge's identity as Papa Emeritus had been largely successfully concealed from the general public up until that point.
Tobias Forge filed a legal response on June 7, 2017, asserting that no legal partnership ever existed between Forge and the other members of the band.[2]
